Chocolate Mousse

This chocolate mousse recipe is rich, creamy, and decadent, perfect for any chocolate lover. It’s relatively quick and easy to make but requires a bit of patience and attention to ensure the egg mixture is properly cooked and beaten into a fluffy texture. The end result is a smooth and velvety chocolate mousse that pairs well with fresh berries or a hot cup of coffee.

– 1 cup heavy cream
– 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
– 4 tbsp unsalted butter
– 4 large eggs
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– Pinch of salt

1. In a medium saucepan, heat heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to steam. Remove from heat and add chopped chocolate and butter. Stir until completely melted and smooth.

2. In a heatproof bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Set the bowl over a pot of simmering water and whisk constantly until the mixture is warm to the touch and slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes.

3. Remove from heat and beat the egg mixture with an electric mixer until it becomes fluffy and triples in volume, about 5-7 minutes.

4. Carefully fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until fully incorporated.

5. Spoon the chocolate mousse into four individual serving dishes or one large bowl. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until set.

6. Serve chilled and garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolate, if desired.
