This seared Ahi Tuna recipe is simple to make but yields impressive results. The marinade gives the tuna a delicious flavor, while the quick sear in the skillet creates a crispy exterior and a tender, raw center. Serve it as a main course or sliced up as an appetizer. Enjoy!
Seared Ahi Tuna Recipe:
Ingredients:
-2 fresh Ahi Tuna steaks (about 6 oz. each)
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-1 tablespoon sesame oil
-1 tablespoon soy sauce
-1 teaspoon grated ginger
-1 teaspoon minced garlic
-1 teaspoon honey
-1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-1 tablespoon vegetable oil, for searing
-Optional toppings: Sesame seeds, sliced green onions, and lime wedges.
Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, and black pepper.
2. Place the Ahi Tuna steaks in a shallow dish, and pour the marinade over the top, turning the steaks to coat them in the marinade. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to an hour.
3. Remove the marinated Ahi Tuna steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before cooking them.
4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat until it’s shimmering. Sear the Ahi Tuna steaks for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or until they’re browned on the outside but still rare on the inside. You can adjust the cooking time if you prefer your tuna to be cooked more.
5. Remove the seared Ahi Tuna steaks from the skillet and place them onto a cutting board. Allow them to rest for a few minutes before slicing them thinly.
6. Garnish the sliced tuna with sesame seeds, sliced green onions, and a squeeze of lime juice, if desired.
